The Coleman Avenue Church of Christ stands upon the Word of God.Our organization, our worship, our missions, our outreaches, our teaching, our hope, and our love are all derived from the teachings of the New Testament. When you visit us, you will find our singing a capella (Ephesians 5:19), prayers lifted up to God (Acts 2:42), preaching from God’s Word (2 Timothy 4:2), giving as our means of support (1 Corinthians 16:1-2), and weekly observance of the Lord’s Supper (Acts 20:7).We live to serve a risen and living Savior (Galatians 2:20) and long for His return (1 Thessalonians 4:13-18).
At the Coleman Avenue church of Christ, we teach the doctrine of Jesus Christ, not some mere man.We believe every Christian today owes their allegiance, their confession, to Christ, and not to any teacher of man's doctrines. We have made a commitment to speak where the Bible speaks and be silent where the Bible is silent. To call Bible things by Bible names and do Bible things in Bible ways.We are not a denomination, but an assembly of Christians practicing New Testament Christianity without deviation, creed, or allegiance to modern theology.
The Coleman Avenue Church of Christ Vision
We are taught that where there is no vision, the people will perish. That is to say, where there is not a clear and goal oriented movement, there is an impending of action, retarding of growth. The second book of Peter 1:3 tell us, "all things that pertain unto life and godliness the knowledge of him that hath call us to gloryand vertue," however, we must make aplications to our current challenges to be successful. What is our goal at Coleman? How will we successfully do the lords work, both within and without.
Our vision is our hope and therefore our mission statement. It is the vision of a congregation that makes those who are lost, frustrated, confused and misguided, feel welcome with the open arms of Christian love and hospitality. it is the vision of a congregation that considers its greatest work to be the preaching and teaching of God's enlightening word, saving this community and the world, one soul at a time. It is the vision of this congregation of people who are steadfast and unmovable on the inherent word of Godto stand and defend the faith. It is the vision of this congregation of Christ like people whose lives and service make them worthy to hear from their Lord at judgement.
